Booking Through Thursday: Disaster!

You’ve just dropped your favorite, out-of-print book into a bathtub, ruining it completely … What do you do now?

It has happened to me before. Not with a bath but with a supremely large puddle when the washer imploded. It was a 1920s copy of Jane Eyre. I panicked for a second but I generally knew what to do. Thank God I know something about book repair. My advice is to stick the book in the freezer right away. It prevents the print from fading and, while the pages still get a crinkly feel to them, it's not as bad as when you dry it with a hair dryer.

  1. I wrote about the same thing! I've never had to do it though!
