Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday (April 14th)

I've been terrible at commenting this week...I've been sick and yucky all week.

This week's question is:

 Q. Do you have anyone that you can discuss books with IRL? Tell us about him/her.

Of course I do. It's always been my mother. And I mean always. Reading has always been a bonding thing with my mother and I. We took weekly walks to the library when I was a kid and spent innumerable hours in our comfy chairs reading in the lazy hours of the day. It hasn't changed much now that I am an adult because I read what she reads now...romance novels. We are constantly bartering books and discussing the ones we like and the ones we don't. I may have even been right about a couple of books that she thought she wouldn't like...that's a victory in my world because my mother is very rarely wrong.

This week's question is:

Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her.

The most recent book that I completed is Anne of Green Gables. My Anne-as I have called her since I first read the book when I was 8-is a spunky red-headed orphan who is very easy to love. She is fanciful and has a quick temper. She enjoys breaking slates over the boy she will eventually marry's head. She also enjoys poetry and literature and is the typical bookworm, often losing herself in a novel for hours.  Her best friend is Diana Barry who has a tendency to overindulge in alcohol and follow Anne in her many scrapes.

Please pardon me for my bit of nostalgia. I was due for a reread.

  3. Hopping through. I wish my mother was that much of a reader. When I was a kid she didn't read at all. Now she reads a few books a month.

  4. Hi, I'm a new follower from the hop!

I'm noticing a running theme this week with mom being a book-buddy (my mom is also one of my IRL bookish friends - but we don't always read the same genres).

    Here is my hop post:

  5. I hope you feel better now! I think it's great you and your mum bond over books! My mum is always saying to me "do you have anything for me to read" when she runs out of library books! My parents used to take me to the library every week too-it was my favourite thing to do! I'm a new follower, and if you stop by my blog you can win a copy of Born At Midnight by CC Hunter! Have a great weekend!!

  12. I love that picked Anne. She is a great character! How fun to be able to book talk with your mom. My mom's a reader, too, but into totally different genres than I am. Good thing I have my YA book-loving husband. :)
    Happy Friday!

  14. My mother and I share the same love of books too! It's not often that its romance novels though. I have no problem telling her about my romance novels, because sex isn't an unheard of topic at our house. I also read Anne of Green Gables too! :)

  17. My mom is also a reader, and I owe her for my love of reading. I always had my nose in a book growing up, and instead of taking that joy away from me, she encouraged me to keep reading and talked about books with me.

    New follower here!
