Friday Hop and Follow Friday (April 8th)

This is my first Follow Friday. I'm so excited to meet new bloggers and all that jargon :) I'm not the most social creature so this is a bit of an experiment for  me.

This weeks question: Do you judge a book by its cover?

I'm going to be really honest and say not really. I'm not very visual when it comes to being or not being attracted to something. I mean, I will definitely notice and be more wary of a book that has a really terrible cover but I will still check the summary and other bloggers' reviews before I consider reading. With me, if the book jacket's summary bores me, I assume the book will bore me.

Coming Soon!

  2. New follower! =)

I love your layout. So peaceful looking!
I'm pretty visually drawn, but like you, I also read the summary regardless of how good or bad a cover is.

  5. Hi! Unfortunately I do in a way judge a book by it's cover. It's what draws me to the book but if the summary doesn't interest me then I won't purchase pretty cover or not.

  6. Oh, that is great! The cover always gets my attention first, but I never buy a book just because of the cover. I'm a new follower. My FF is at Coffee Table Reviews

  7. Hi Grace! New follower here. Would love for you to follow me. Nice to meet you.

For me, it is the cover and the title that tempt me to read the blurb. If the blurb reads great, I'll grab the book. I remember the first time I saw Harry Potter's book covers, I was like, O_o...not sure if I liked them. Love the inside but the covers weren't really to my taste.
    Happy Follow Friday!!!

  8. My main attraction to a book comes from a cover. But I decide whether I want to read it or not based on reviews from the blogs I follow. I'm usually not disappointed!

Thanks for dropping by and following :) I'm a new follower!

  9. The summary would definitely be the second thing I check although I have a tendency to forget what the summary said 5 min after I read it >.>

  11. Thanks so much for stopping by & commenting. I love that you're not drawn in by the pretty trappings of the book but rather its content. I try to be more discriminating but fail terribly.

Very pretty blog--and title! Books are like breathing to me, too.

  12. I admire everyone who doesn't judge by cover. It comes natural for me as a first impression. However, I never buy only based on the cover. :) It's how the storyline seems that decides whether or not I'll give it a try.

I'm a new follower, btw. :) Like your blog. My FF can be found here!

  13. Hopping through. New follower! I look carefully at covers but ultimately the summary and review are the most important thing for me too.

  14. I think we can all agree that even the most beautiful book cover can't sell a book if the writing's not there. Book cover art may, at best, help steer me in the book's direction (especially if I'm in a book store) but it's not going to hypnotize me into buying it right then and there.

I expound on all the marketing qualities of a good book. Just follow me back to my book blog - http://www.howardsherman.net

    Thank God it's Follow Friday!?

You're one of the few that said no. I admit the summary also is another thing that raises my interest in a book.

  17. Thanks for commenting (:

Of course I don't base my decision on whether or not to buy/read a book on the cover (that depends on the synopsis, like you said), but I base my first impression of a book on the cover quite often.

By the way, I love your banner!
