Grace Zuniga, a yearling widow, is convinced she can never fall in love again. She has surrendered to a quiet life on a quiet street, existing in a world that revolves around her two young sons—until the moment she steps into an elevator.

Evan, also known as Rhys Matthews, is a typical Hollywood playboy. He’s used to women falling all over him, but Grace is different. She makes him believe in love at first sight, and in himself. She’s thoughtful, beautiful, and intelligent—the opposite of his usual type—and the woman he never knew he always wanted.

It’s an ordinary October day when the two meet in an elevator and embark on a romance that is anything but ordinary.

The following October, Grace is living out a seemingly normal day, until she suddenly finds herself trapped and struggling to get away from a faceless woman. Terrified, Grace can think of nothing but her motivation—her sons, Evan, all the mistakes she thought she had time to make up for, and a love she will give anything to keep. Stumbling through her bleak circumstances, Grace relives the past year and thinks of all that has happened between Octobers.

My Review:

Intro: I am not quite sure what to do with myself. I spent so long in the depths of a reading and reviewing slump that I am not quite sure what to do now that I am out of it. I have now read a bunch of books that I have liked and reviewed them all. I don't know anymore. I really don't.

Heroine: Grace- Usually, it's so easy to make a connection with namesake characters. I don't know why. It's a kinship sort of thing. But I initially had trouble with Grace. I mean she was likable and I felt for her and her story was gutwrenching. It just took me a while to make friends with her. I think that's the best way to describe it.

Hero: Rhys-Now I had absolutely no trouble with Rhys. I loved him. He was perfect in that “still has some grit” kind of way. I spent a good amount of time wanting to thwap him upside the head but I think I say that way too often. I love heroes but sometimes they are just blockheaded dunderheads.

Chemistry: I absolutely loved Rhys and Grace. So much. I love that we got to see the whole story of the relationship. Usually in the books I read, marriage in endgame. It's white noise beyond it. You are left to assume there is no trouble, no bickering and all is happy sunshine times. Some of this book was gutpunchingly angsty but it was so well done.

Chemistry Rating:

Ending Babble: I have found yet another author to read. I'm not going to complain about that at all. I really enjoyed this book. There were some parts that got particularly angsty but I love that. I found myself really immersed in this one and it was the first book I read on my new Kindle so it's special.
