Intro: I haven’t had internet for the past three days. I think I would prefer food poisoning for three more days over life without the internet. That seems ridiculous to say but it is shockingly accurate.
Heroine: Lauren- I loved Lauren. Mainly because I can identify with a girl who know her hockey and knows it well. I loved her dedication to the sport. It may seem strange to most but her knowledge of hockey is something I really identified with. I also identified with the fact that her opinion about hockey was often disregarded. It is frustrating in the book and in real life.
Hero: Ethan- Initially, he came off as a sneaky snake because I knew what he was up to. And I kind of wanted to throttle him. But I did end up liking him quite a bit. He genuinely did have to grapple with what he was doing. It wasn’t easy for him.
Chemistry: Lauren and Ethan were perfect. They were two really knowledgeable hockey people and they had so much in common. They did have so much deception and subterfuge between them. It added a level of angst to them that I found both interesting and nerve wracking.
Conclusion: I often find that if it has hockey in it, I will love it. Moreso, if it has accurate hockey in it, I will love it. And this one has accurate hockey in it. Sometimes hockey (or sports in general) is used more as an ancillary plot device without any detail or attempt at accuracy but not so with this one. I think that is a huge part of why I loved this book so much.
An advocate of happy endings, Jami Davenport writes sexy contemporary and sports romances, including her two new indie endeavors: the Game On in Seattle Series and the Madrona Island Series. Jami lives on a small farm near Puget Sound with her Green Beret-turned-plumber husband, a Newfoundland cross with a tennis ball fetish, a prince disguised as an orange tabby cat, and an opinionated Hanoverian mare. She works in computer support in her day job and juggles too many balls, but she wouldn't have it any other way.
