Intro: I am typing this review up while watching the news predicting huge amounts of snowfall slow torture. I don’t mind the snow but I mind blizzards. A whole lot. Being stuck in the house is no fun. It does give me plenty of time to read before I go stir crazy.
I read Just a Taste with little to no expectations but I found myself really loving it. It’s especially surprising because I usually don’t like jumping in at the fifth book in a series.
Heroine: Carmen-I loved Carmen. I did. I really identified with her. She came across as so real and kind of like someone I could meet and have a conversation with. I never really feel that way about most heroines.
Hero: Liam: Liam is the type of hero that I love to find. He was super sweet and kind to Carmen. But he also had these moments of complete not so niceness. He was a great balance. I did like him quite a bit but I did want to smack him at times.
Chemistry: I loved Carmen and Liam together. They were just so real. I know this is going to sound bad but I mean it in a very very good way. Carmen and Liam are not the romance novel fireworks type of couple. They are like a couple you can meet every day. I think that is what makes them so perfect.
Conclusion: I absolutely loved this book. I found both Carmen and Liam to be so charmingly real and I loved that about them. I also loved the foodie aspect of the book. I need to catch up with this series very badly. I could see myself mainlining this series over a weekend.
Shannyn Schroeder is the author of the O’Leary series, contemporary romances centered around a large Irish-American family in Chicago and the new Hot & Nerdy series about 3 nerdy friends and their last spring break. When she’s not wrangling her three kids or writing, she watches a ton of TV and loves to bake cookies.
