Pretty and popular, Miss Clare Westmore knows exactly what (or rather, who) she wants: the next Duke of Harrington. But when she twists her ankle on the eve of the Season’s most touted event, Clare is left standing in the wallflower line watching her best friend dance away with her duke.

Dr. Daniel Merial is tempted to deliver more than a diagnosis to London’s most unlikely wallflower, but he doesn’t have time for distractions, even one so delectable. Besides, she’s clearly got her sights on more promising prey. So why can’t he stop thinking about her?

All Clare wants to do is return to the dance floor. But as her former friends try to knock her permanently out of place, she realizes with horror she is falling for her doctor instead her duke. When her ankle finally heals and she faces her old life again, will she throw herself back into the game?

Or will her time in the wallflower line have given her a glimpse of who she was really meant to be?

My Review:

Intro: I have the flu. Again.  I am not the best sick person on the planet so everything I had planned for this week kind of went by the wayside. I am just now getting back into the swing of things…on Thursday evening…way too late to do anything constructive.

Heroine: Clare-I have to admit that I didn’t like Clare at the start. I don’t have much patience for wimpy heroines lately but she grew on me and definitely wasn’t as weak as I first thought. She was really strong and not at all what I first thought of her.

Hero: Daniel-I absolutely loved Daniel. He was such a complex and interesting hero. He’s not the type you come across in every romance novel. He was intelligent, kind and it was difficult not to love him. He’s like an 8.5 on the Darcy-Craven Scale of Hero Awesomeness.

Chemistry: I say this often but I really shipped them. In the joining a fan club sort of war. Clare and Daniel were so sweet and perfect and I loved them. They had their issues and obstacles but they were just so amazing together.

Chemistry Rating:

Conclusion: I really love Jennifer McQuiston's books. I don’t think I have read one that did not work for me and this is definitely up there in the favorites. I can’t wait to read more of this series because it definitely started out well.

  1. Walking through the bookstore, this wouldn't be the type of book I would casually pick up and read because of the cover, but I think I might actually pick this up and read it. I appreciate how you post the summary and the ISBN number as nt many book bloggers do that!
