Welcome to the Devil’s Den, a Texas strip club where the air is heavy with desire—and sometimes dreams come true.

Ever since her mother kicked her out, twenty-year-old Robyn Gonzalez has been working the poles at the Devil’s Den, saving up to finish college and travel the world. With only her wits and her gorgeous body to rely on, Robyn has learned to be independent—fiercely independent. She’s never been tempted to let a man distract her from her dreams . . . until she meets the dead-sexy Garrick Dempsey.

The club’s new head of security, Garrick had walked away from a career as a mechanical engineer to return to his roots in Corpus Christi. He hadn’t planned on getting to know someone like Robyn, with her sinfully sweet combination of vulnerability and strength, at the Devil’s Den. She acts tough, but only because she’s been hurt. Soon Garrick knows he will do anything to win Robyn’s trust. And if that means surrendering to the red-hot chemistry between them, all the better.

My Review:

Intro: I haven’t read a book by Violetta Rand yet and I was really looking forward to this one. I liked it. Quite a bit. Perhaps not enough to go on my list of favorites but enough that I am going to read the next book in the series.

Heroine: Robyn-I liked Robyn. She was a strong heroine but also a bit vulnerable. But there were some aspects of her character that kept me from making a connection to her. I found her to be a bit judgy towards the other strippers at the club and it just frustrated me.

Hero: Garrick-I liked Garrick as well. He was an alpha with a tender side. I have been reading Mary Balogh lately—her early books—and her alphas very rarely have a tender side. So Garrick was a nice break. But again, I didn’t find myself making as much of a connection to Garrick as I had hoped.

Chemistry: I don’t necessarily have to connect to both characters to buy into romantic chemistry but it does help. And with this one, I did have some trouble. I liked them together but I just never made that connection with them as a couple.

Chemistry Rating:

Conclusion: I liked this one. I had some trouble with connecting with the characters and I am one of those readers who has trouble getting into a story if I cannot connect with the characters. I eventually did but it took longer than usual. But, that being said, I really did love Rand’s writing style so I will read the next book in the series because the next book sounds awesome.
