Summary:

HE CAN GUARD HER

Lady Phoebe Batten is pretty, vivacious, and yearning for a social life befitting the sister of a powerful duke. But because she is almost completely blind, her overprotective brother insists that she have an armed bodyguard by her side at all times-the very irritating Captain Trevillion.

FROM EVERY DANGER

Captain James Trevillion is proud, brooding, and cursed with a leg injury from his service in the King's dragoons. Yet he can still shoot and ride like the devil, so watching over the distracting Lady Phoebe should be no problem at all-until she's targeted by kidnappers.

BUT PASSION ITSELF

Caught in a deadly web of deceit, James must risk life and limb to save his charge from the lowest of cads-one who would force Lady Phoebe into a loveless marriage. But while they're confined to close quarters for her safekeeping, Phoebe begins to see the tender man beneath the soldier's hard exterior . . . and the possibility of a life-and love-she never imagined possible.

My Review:

Intro: Elizabeth Hoyt is one of my failsafe authors and the Maiden Lane series is one of my favorites. I really was looking forward to this one. And it lived up to every single one of my expectations and beyond.

Characters:

Heroine: Phoebe-I have encountered many a blind hero but never a blind heroine. I don’t know why. It’s just not something I’ve come across. Phoebe was one of the best heroines I have come across. She was brave, smart, tenacious and sassy. I loved her.

Hero: James-He was broody. I like broody. A lot. He really was quite the captivating hero. I wanted to figure him out and it took me a bit longer than it usually does. He, honestly, is one of my favorite heroes in this series.

Chemistry: Phoebe and James were a case of opposites attract in all ways. They were complete opposites but so perfect. They had amazing chemistry. I mean, out of all the couples in this series, these two had the most electric of chemistries. Seriously. I am not kidding.

Chemistry Rating:

Conclusion: Elizabeth Hoyt never lets me down. I loved this book. I picked it up at midnight, finished it at 3am and then read it again. It caused me not to sleep. It was that perfect. I don’t think I will ever find a romance novel couple like Phoebe and James again and that is not something I can say often.
