Intro: I don’t read much contemporary romance but there are a few authors who are always the exception. Darcy Burke is one of the exceptions. I love her books and this one definitely did not disappoint at all.
Heroine: Tori-Tori confounded me a bit. I liked her a lot. But she frustrated me to no end. I vociferated between wanted to give her a good scold and really loving her. She caused some really strong emotions from me both good and…not so good. Mainly I really did not like how harsh she was towards Sean.
Hero: Sean-Sean is the exact sort of hero that I love. He’s adorable and sweet and apparently has the patience of a saint with what he deals with from Tori. I love how he did not give up on Tori and stuck with her even though she was giving him no hope at all.
Chemistry: Oh my dear did Tori and Sean have amazing chemistry. Tori was such a strong personality that it just worked that Sean was more easy-going . They were just perfect for each other in a very unexpected way.
Conclusion: I loved this book. I breezed through it. I loved the interplay between Tori and Sean even though Tori made me want to pull my hair out strand by strand. I think I need to go back and reread the rest of the Archer series. It’s going to happen.
Darcy Burke is the USA Today bestselling author of hot, action-packed historical and sexy, emotional contemporary romance. Darcy wrote her first book at age 11, a happily-ever-after about a swan addicted to magic and the female swan who loved him, with exceedingly poor illustrations.
A native Oregonian, Darcy lives on the edge of wine country with her guitar-strumming husband, their two hilarious kids-who each seem to have inherited the writing gene in some form-and two Bengal cats. In her "spare" time Darcy is a serial volunteer enrolled in a 12-step program where one learns to say "no," but she keeps having to start over. Her happy places are Disneyland and Labor Day weekend at the Gorge.
